What I Love About Audible

I’ve only recently started using Audible, Amazon’s audiobook subscription site. Not because I don’t like audiobooks, our family spent many happy hours in the car listening to Roald Dahl, Francesca Simon and Audrey Wood‘s books. But up until a few months ago, I was working full-time which left little time for hobbies. Now that I have many more hours to spend painting, art journaling and other craft activities I discovered that I am easily bored and music alone was just not filling the gap.

So in came Audible which offers a one month trial. Bonus! What to choose… My TBR (to be read) list is dangerously long. Daunting. Intimidating. It is really impossible difficult to choose what to read next. Then I remembered there were a few books on my list that had been there a while, mostly because of their sheer size. And then I had it – A Game of Thrones. And just like that, I rediscovered a passion for audiobooks…

Here is a list of what I love about Audible. (Lists are addictive!)Audible

  1. One month free trial.
  2. I can listen on my android phone and sync to any device.
  3. One credit i.e. one book. (Any book of your choice) is included in the monthly subscription.
  4. Relatively inexpensive.
  5. Many titles to choose from.
  6. If you purchase the ebook from Amazon you can include the Audible audio ed. at a reduced cost. This allows you to seamlessly sync between the text and audio.
  7. Makes chores something to look forward to.
  8. Prevents my brain getting up to mischief while I am painting.
  9. Ticking off my TBR list quicker than I would have.
  10. Completing my Goodreads reading challenge becomes a real possibility.
  11. Discovering hidden gems in the story that the A Game of Thrones TV series doesn’t show.

  1. I keep hearing about Audible, so I may have to give it a try. To be honest i’ve never really tried audio books because I feel like my mind would probably wander (I’m not known for having the best concentration!), but if there is a free trial available it might be worth a try. I’d certainly make more of a dent in my TBR list if I could listen to books in the car!
I hope you enjoyed Game of Thrones by the way! That’s one of my favourite series (both the book series, and the TV series).

  2. I’m an audiobook evangelist and have chosen to focus my blog on that. I post 2 sci-fi fantasy audiobook reviews a week and most of those books come from Audible.

MY TTT LIST (which is about audiobooks)

  3. I’ve been really enjoying this week’s TTT. It’s great to share so much positive vibes and love of what other’s…well, love. =) I’m not listening to books as much as I use to. But, I certainly know the appeal and with Audible, it’s just phenomenal what we can listen to these days. Great post!

  4. I’ve never tried any type of audio books. They just don’t seem like “my thing.” But perhaps, someday, I will! Thanks for these great reasons, and for visiting Finding Wonderland, Sue.

  5. I have never listened to an audio book before. Isn’t that awful? But I’ve always wanted to and I do plan on giving it a shot in the future. Glad to hear you enjoy Audible so much.

  6. I haven’t tried Audible. It sounds like a good deal for audio books! I may have to check into it.

  7. I’ve never used audiobooks but this makes me wonder if I should start! Great list. 🙂

I have tried audio books, but struggle to keep my mind from wandering. I am a really visual learner and have to take notes on everything! However, I loove A Game of Thrones. The rest of the books are quite different from the TV series in some ways, so I think you will discover some surprises as well as hidden gems in the story. Hope you enjoy!

Here’s my Top Ten Tuesday: I Love Authors.

  10. I’ve debated joining Audible for a while now and once my son starts Kindergarten next year I may just do it. I love being able to listen to a book while I’m working on other things (like my crocheting or chores) and it’s a must on long car trips. Great list!

  11. Awesome list! I love audiobooks in general and audible has been a great tool at times! I do feel like it’s really expensive so I always wait for promotions and listen mostly through my library. I totally agree that audiobooks make GR challenges more realistic!

  12. I haven’t used audio books, however I have been considering it for some time. I might do that it comes to the point that I live by myself, so I can have the book playing while I eat or shower. However currently I don’t spend enough time in the car etc. for me to think it is worth it. These reasons have made me seriously consider getting an audiobook account, so thanks.

  13. I really want to like audiobooks, but for some reason they don’t seem to capture my attention. I tend to lose concentration. I’m so glad they work for you though!
